Durham County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm whether someone is in custody, confirm a release, pull an official booking record, release anyone, or post bond. The agencies and courts below are the proper sources for those answers.
Where Durham Records Are Held
Use the agency that controls the record and state the custody question clearly. The Durham County search and records page explains the roster and request path, while the contact points below provide the local starting places.

Records Division information
Public Information: PIO@DurhamSheriff.org
For a booking photo, ask DCSO Records for an existing image and ask the division to confirm any cost and timing. The published fee schedule lists a report copy at $3 cash or $6.09 by card. It lists a criminal-history check for attorneys or court officials at $10 cash or $13.30 by card. No separate booking-photo fee or guaranteed photo turnaround is published.
The DCSO roster is the right first check for current or very recent Durham County custody. It shows the fields maintained in the current inmate table, but the checked public view has no booking-photo image. A name link leads to VINE status notifications, not a photo record.
For a case number, hearing, disposition, or certified court copy, contact the Durham Clerk of Superior Court. The criminal and traffic office is at 510 South Dillard Street, Durham, NC 27701, and its published number is (919) 808-3002. Email is Durham.Clerk@nccourts.org. The Durham Clerk criminal and traffic page and Durham County court location page provide the current court route.
Choose the Right Official Source
A person’s location and case stage determine which system can answer the question. A recent county booking, a released detainee, a state sentence, and immigration custody are different records.
- Current Durham County custody: use the DCSO Inmate Population Search and contact the sheriff at (919) 560-0897 or sheriff@durhamsheriff.org if the roster does not answer the question.
- Booking record or existing photo: contact the DCSO Records Division at the courthouse address and phone numbers above. The Durham County public-records request route also identifies the Public Information path.
- Court case, hearing, or disposition: search the North Carolina eCourts Portal and use the Durham Clerk of Superior Court criminal and traffic page for court-record questions or certified copies. The portal is a public search tool, not a certified copy.
- State prison, probation, or parole: use the NCDAC Offender Public Information Search and the department’s search guidance. It does not replace the DCSO county roster and does not cover a newly booked county detainee.
- Federal custody: check the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator. A federal record is not a Durham County jail record.
- Immigration custody: use the ICE Online Detainee Locator when that custody question applies. ICE’s locator is not a Durham booking-photo archive, and a person may not appear right away.
For general county questions, DCSO’s main office is the best local starting point. Emergencies belong to 911 or (919) 560-0900, not email or this reference site. Anonymous tips may be sent to (919) 560-7151 or crimetip@durhamsheriff.org, but the sheriff says that line is not monitored around the clock.
